Diocese of Biloxi Parishioner Shares His Family’s Journey with the Eucharist

Matt Gerald had strong Methodist Protestant roots, and when he married a Catholic, he hoped his wife would eventually join him in his denomination. A decade later, when it was clear she was remaining Catholic, and their son was preparing for First Communion, Matt decided to become Catholic, mostly for the sake of family unity.

In those early days, Matt didn’t really understand the Eucharist, or have any particularly clear feelings about what was going on at Mass.
