Mississippi Whole Schools: Transforming Arts Education

26

Mississippi Whole Schools, a program of the Mississippi Arts Commission, is Mississippi’s first comprehensive statewide arts education program which uses the arts as a vehicle for promoting high-quality instruction and learning for students in all disciplines. Students learn academic concepts through arts-based instruction. St. Alphonsus Catholic School is entering its second year in the program and its first year as a Whole School. Teachers will begin implementing arts-integrated lessons into their curriculum and will discuss elements of dance, music, theatre, and visual arts alongside core academic standards and material. St. Alphonsus Catholic School is thrilled to be a part of this program and is looking forward to revived and engaged students and teachers.
