Nativity BVM School in Biloxi holds Blessing of the Pets
On Wednesday, October 4, Nativity BVM Catholic Elementary School celebrated its annual Blessing of the Pets. In honor of St. Francis of Assisi and his Feast Day, the Blessing of the Pets is a school community event where students are invited to bring their family pet or favorite stuffed animal to receive a special blessing. Hosted by Mrs. Kenna Elbin and her first grade students, the Blessing of the Pets was an incredibly fun (and loud!) event with ducks, dogs, hamsters and more! Celebrated by Deacon Norbert Lloyd, those in attendance were reminded that according to St. Francis, all things of creation are children of the Father and therefore, brothers of man. It’s important for us to remember that kindness to animals, big and small, is just as important as treating others with love and respect. Thank you to everyone who came out for this annual event.
