St. Fabian Parish, Hattiesburg, Youth Minister — St. Fabian Parish is in the process of hiring a new youth minister. DEACON FORMATION
► Diocese of Biloxi, Men, Could God be calling you to the diaconate? — If so, the Biloxi Diocese plans to begin a new Formation Class for the diaconate in the Fall of 2024. Pre-selection information sessions will be con-ducted from 8:30 a.m.-noon on the following days: Sept. 23 at St. Thomas Parish, Long Beach; Sept. 30 at St. Thomas Parish, Hattiesburg; and Oct. 14 at St. Mary Parish, Gautier. For interested men who think they might have a calling, attendance at one of these sessions is mandatory with your wife. ► New Wine, Lay Ministry Formation Program — New Wine classes will begin sometime in August. The program is a 3-year lay ministry formation pro-gram for anyone who wants a basic foundation in theology and pastoral skills or who seek to be leaders in minis-try. ► Nativity BVM Cathedral, Biloxi, “Gloria in Excelsis”– The Music and Fine Arts Ministry of Nativity BVM Cathedral announces the beginning of the sixth season of their Community Chorale: “Gloria In Excelsis.” The Community Choir program is open to any interested singer in the Diocese of Biloxi and the Greater Gulf Coast Area. The Chorale will begin its sixth season on Tues., Aug. 8, at 6:45 p.m. in the Youth Ministry Hall of the Sacred Heart Academy Center directly behind the Cathedral. Plans for the 2023-2024 sea-son include: John Rutter’s “Requiem,” the annual Advent concert-service, the annual Christmas Concert, John Stainer’s “Crucifixion,” the annual Patriotic Concert and Randal Thompson’s “Testament of Freedom.” For more info, contact Terry Maddox at (251) 406-1454 &/or terrydalemaddox@gmail.com.
► Diocesan Pastoral Center, Biloxi, Tuesdays with Tammy & Theresa at 10 — The Finance Office will begin offering short training classes called “Tuesdays with Tammy and Theresa at 10” through Zoom. The first class will be Tues., Aug. 8, at 10 a.m. to run approximately 15 to 20 minutes and will be held weekly. The classes will be recorded and placed on the diocesan web-site for reference. We won’t be answering questions during the class, but those attending will have the opportunity to send questions through the “chat” mode on Zoom or by e-mail. The questions and answers will be e-mailed back to the parishes or schools for all to reference. The Finance Office will send out a link on Mon. along with any documents that the person attending can use for reference. Some classes will be pertinent to parishes, some to schools and some to both. E-mail invites will be sent out accordingly.
Topics to be covered will include: Diocesan Support, Worker’s Compensation Insurance, Property Insurance, Claims forms, Records retention, School Support, Priests and Payroll, Payroll for Order Priests, Christian Brothers, Sales Tax, Medical Benefits, Priests over 65, Property Sales and Purchases, Parish Finance Councils, Investments, Building Projects, Disability Insurance, Annual Reports, How to Prepare a Budget, Second collections, How to read your Foundation Trust Report, and Special Events Insurance Coverage.

► Locus Benedictus Retreat Ministries, Greenwood, Sept. 16, Franciscan Retreat ~ Locus Benedictus Retreat Ministries will hold a “Franciscan Retreat” on Sat., Sept. 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Retreat Center at 1407 Levee Road, Greenwood. ► Pro-Life MS, Gulf Coast District 7, Sept. 30, “Walk for Life” event ~ Pro-Life MS, Gulf Coast District 7 is holding our annual “Walk for Life” event in Biloxi. I ask you to support this fund-raiser for Pro-Life Mississippi to bring awareness, education, and protection of innocent lives lost to abortion, infanticide, and euthanasia. ► Nativity B.V.M. Cathedral, Biloxi, Nov. 5, Annual Wedding Anniversary Mass ~ The Wedding Anniversary Mass will be celebrated Sun., Nov. 5, at 2 p.m. at Nativity B.V.M. Cathedral in Biloxi. Couples celebrating 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 60, and over 60, will be recog-nized.

► Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cathedral, Biloxi, Sept. 7, Hour of Grace ~ Hour of Grace is a time of encounter with our Lord Jesus Christ present to us in the most Holy Sacrament of the altar; an opportunity to lift our voices and hearts to Christ in worship as He pours His graces upon us. This Hour of Grace will be on Thurs., Sept. 7, at 6 p.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cathedral, 870 Howard Avenue. Come and be renewed by the Lord!
► St. John the Evangelist Parish, Gulfport, Sept. 11, Rescue Project ~ Deacon David Allen will present “The Rescue Project” at St John the Evangelist Parish. The Rescue Project is a global movement from ACTS 29 that launched last year. It flows from the conviction that the most urgent task in the Church is a compelling and attractive proclamation of the gospel. Its aim is threefold: that people might be overwhelmed by the good news of what God has done for us, moved to sur-render their lives to Jesus in faith, and mobilized for mission. We will hold this 9-week study in Presentation Hall on Mon. evenings at 6 p.m., beginning Sept. 11. ► St. Vincent de Paul Elementary, Long Beach, Sept. 16, Presentation by Dr. Alan Schreck ~ All are invited to a special presentation by Dr. Alan Schreck Sat., Sept. 16, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in St. Vincent de Paul gym, Long Beach. Dr. Schreck is the professor of Theology at Franciscan University of Steubenville and author of many books, including Your Life in the Holy Spirit. ► Nativity B.V.M. Cathedral, Biloxi, Sept. 17, Vincentians Brothers and Sisters ~ Annually there is a celebration of Frederick Ozanam throughout St. Vincent de Paul. Frederick Ozanam was the founder of our St. Vincent de Paul. The celebration this year in Southern Mississippi will be at our Biloxi Cathedral — Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cathedral Parish. The address is: 870 Nativity Drive, Biloxi. The celebration occurs on Sept. 17, at 11 a.m. The celebration begins with a Mass, then a short photo shoot secession, and finally, a potluck luncheon for all to attend. Provided no changes to his busy schedule, our Bishop, The Most Reverent Bishop Louis Kihneman will celebrate Mass with us and will attend the luncheon with us afterwards. The luncheon will be set up right behind the Nativity Cathedral. You, and your family are invited to attend this wonderful celebration.
This year we’re celebrating the lifelong works of four of our Vincentians: Mary Francis Ford, William (Bill) Migley, Darlene and Mike Barry. Each has been nominated and will receive the coveted honor of Jubilarian. They will receive the unique Jubilarian Cross, which will be blessed and presented by our Bishop Kihneman.
Please RSVP if you’ll attend. To ensure appropriate planning for the luncheon afterwards, I’ll need to know if you’re planning to go no later than Sept. 8.
► St. John the Evangelist Parish, Gulfport, Sept. 21, Young at Heart ~ The next Young at Heart event will be held on Sept. 21 at 12 noon in Presentation Hall in St. John parish. All denominations are welcome. Come enjoy food, fun, fellowship and BINGO!

► Sacred Heart Parish, D’Iberville, Oct. 13-15, Sacred Heart 97th Annual Bazaar ~ Sacred Heart will host the 97th Annual Bazaar on Oct. 13, 14, and 15. It runs 6-10 p.m. on Sun. ► St. Stanislaus College, Bay St. Louis, Sept. 15 ~ Boys in the fifth and sixth grade are cordially invited to attend the St. Stanislaus Youth Game Day Experience on Fri., Sept. 15, 5:30-7 p.m., before the Rock-A-Chaws face off against the Pirates of Pass Christian.
