The Impact of DBYC
The Diocese of Biloxi Youth Conference (DBYC) began in 1977 with a simple goal: to foster community among young people across the entire diocese. Over the years, DBYC has grown into a cornerstone event, inviting teens to step beyond their own parish communities and experience the broader life of the Church. Through keynote sessions, worship, the Sacraments, and more, participants are guided step by step through each year’s theme in a way that mirrors larger Catholic conferences.
This year, we welcome teens to the 49th annual DBYC, Called and Commissioned, March 13-15, 2026 at the Coast Coliseum Convention Center. 9th – 12th graders can sign up with their Parish Youth Ministers. We would also like to invite 6th – 8th graders to sign up with their youth ministers for the Middle School Rally on Sunday(March 15) from 2-5pm.
Over the years, DBYC has welcomed nationally recognized Catholic speakers from across the country. This year, we are excited to welcome Mary Bielski and Oscar Rivera, both nationally known Catholic speakers with many years of experience in youth ministry.
Since 2008, the conference has been planned and led by the Diocesan Spirit Movers, a peer ministry team made up of 10th–12th graders.
Hi! My name is Addison Ladner and I am a senior at St. Patrick. I am a Spirit Mover for the diocese where we help put on DBYC, which is the Diocese of Biloxi Youth Conference. At this conference teens get to hear from amazing speakers, partake in Adoration, Confession, Praise and Worship, and Mass, watch skits and listen to testimonies put on by peers, break into small groups consisting of kids from all over the diocese, and so much more! DBYC has changed my life in more ways than I could’ve ever imagined. It has helped me strengthen my relationship with the adults and members of Spirit Movers. It has also helped me build relationships with not only teens in my youth group, but throughout our community. I have been able to become very confident in sharing my experiences with others because of this conference. At DBYC, you form a connection with each other unlike anything else!
My name is Cobie Martino. I am a senior at St. Patrick Catholic and a member of the East Biloxi Life Teen group. Two years ago, when I went to my first DBYC, I didn’t know what to expect, I just knew some of my friends would be there, and I was excited to hang out with them. I had no idea that weekend would completely change my life. As I listened to the talks and heard the speakers share their stories, I began to see my life and my faith differently. Everything we did led up to adoration, and in that moment I truly let my guard down and gave my life to God. My faith became personal and real to me. If it weren’t for DBYC, I don’t think I would be nearly as strong in my faith as I am today, and it inspired me to become more involved in Life Teen and step up as a Spirit Mover to help create that same experience for others.
