Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament Donate Historic Relic
The Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, founded by St Katharine Drexel, have generously donated a Second-class relic of St. Katharine Drexel. It is a piece of cloth worn by her.
Cheryl “Bunny” Thompson from Our Mother of Sorrows Parish in Biloxi presented the relic to Bishop Kihneman this morning. The Chancellor at the Diocese, Deacon Karl Koberger, is in charge of the safe keeping of the relics in the Diocese.
The Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament (SBS) have a long history of services as educators, both founding and operating elementary and secondary schools and Xavier University of Louisiana. They opened elementary schools along the MS Gulf Coast including St. Rose de Lima in Bay St. Louis, St. Therese of Lisieux in Gulfport, Our Mother of Sorrows here in Biloxi & St. Peter the Apostle in Pascagoula.
