Sacred Heart Church was established on December 27, 1962.   A few days later, at the first Sunday mass, a young family whose parents were in their early 30s with their 6 children ages 9,7,4,2, and 4 month old twins, became the first family to take gifts to the Altar. 64 years later on October 26, 2024, that family – The Ehrlich family – came back to present a $20,000 gift to the church in support of the sacristy renovation.

The church and the school has played a significant role in this family’s life.   It’s where the children received their early education.  It’s where they received their first communions, their confirmation and visited the confessionals.   Marriages, funerals, baptisms, and countless Sundays of worship all provided many happy, some sad, but all impactful experiences in their lives.

In fact, the father – Buddy Ehrlich – converted to Catholicism in his 70s at this very church.   When the father died in 2004, the children formed the Buddy Ehrlich Foundation (and later renamed it to The Buddy and Frances Ehrlich Foundation when their mother passed in 2019) to honor their parents and do so by giving back to the things that meant the most to them. Included in that was their beloved Sacred Heart Church.

Over the years, the foundation has donated approximately $23,000 before this most recent gift.

It is incredibly fitting, that the first family to take gifts to the Altar at this Church has come back 64 years later and 20 years after the father’s passing, to add $20,000 to that total and that it be used to renovate the sacristy.

A SPECIAL “THANK YOU” TO THE BUDDY AND FRANCES EHRLICH FOUNDATION
