Chris Collins and Jacob Lott Instituted as Acolytes
On Monday October 21st, 2024, Chris Collins and Jacob Lott were instituted in the Ministry of Acolyte at Notre Dame Seminary, by Bishop Steven Raica of the Diocese of Birmingham, Alabama. This ministry enables men in preparation for the priesthood to enter deeply into the role of service at the altar. The bishop says “Take this bread for the celebration of the Eucharist. Make your life worthy of your service at the table of the Lord and His Church” while presenting the candidates with a ciborium. 23 other men preparing for the priesthood were also instituted.
Chris Collins and Jacob Lott are seminarians for the Diocese of Biloxi in the 2nd Configuration stage at Notre Dame Seminary. Chris Collins is a parishioner of St. James, Gulfport, and Jacob Lott is a parishioner of St. Thomas and Sacred Heart, Hattiesburg.
